I am on h1b visa and want to buy a property in india. My parents in india will be the POA. Can someone suggest which is better- taking a personal loan from a bank in India or here?Also, if someone has done the same, can u provide the details about how much loan one can get, any good bank to get it and the paperwork etc. thanks a lot.

I applied for my EAD in July 2007, got it approved Oct 2007, mailed to me but I NEVER received it.
Today I called USCIS and it says that since it is not "returned to them as undeliverable", they CAN NOT do anything . I will need to APPLY for it again??
Please Help since I dont know what to do as I was expecting the EAD card to start a new job.

I have one question. I have 140 and 485 concurrently applied. If there's an rfe o 140 will they ask for paystubs ? I have some personal problems recently and I dont have paystubs for about two months.
Please advise.
Depends on what kind of company you work for and what kind of proferred wage your GC application has and what kind of money you been making on w2s since your labor process has started. Again it all depends on whether you receive an RFE or not but if you work for a company that is H1B dependent and has multiple 140 petitions pending and your application is filed with NSC , I think you should be prepared for an RFE on your companies ability to pay.

Hope you do realize now that EAD doesn't get you anything but just the extended stay. Join together with and become a donor and actively participate in the advocacy efforts. No one else here will help you.

Anecdote: An acquaintance of mine was married for a year and then they had marital issues. His spouse started living separately here in the US and then went back to India. The guy went to India on a trip to see his ailing father. His ex-wife's parents filed a harassment/abuse case against him and he ended up being there for 2 years. In that period his 485 was considered abandoned inspite of being in the country for more than 10 years.
I do not know the exact reasons for their marital discord, never asked and never judged.
The one thing which this country should teach is not to judge another person. No one has the right to insult/judge another human being without knowing the facts. Even if you do know the facts, you have absolutely no business to talk nonsense. Just farting out of your mouths anonymously on a public forum does not make you wise or a person of character. Shame on the low-lives who made ugly comments about OP.

Could you please share how you filed SR, my h1 extn is pending for 92 days.
You need to ask the person, who filed the extension to call USCIS Number and the representative will open SR for you if you are eligible, i.e. Your receipt date is less than Processing Dates by 60 days. Only employer can call for opening SR.

Most likely my company revoked H1. Until this email came I was confident I could travel without worries of 485 getting touched/denied when I was in India.(I am planning to reenter using AP).
I currently have found a similar job but havent filed AC21 papers yet. I am now hesitating to travel as something happens to my 485 when I am out of the country there is not much that can be done.
So with
a) H1 Revoked aug 28th
b) Address changed
c) AC21 not filed
I am thinking of not travelling. Am I overreacting here ?
You mentioned emergency in your post. If there is a medical issue regarding a near-dear family member or a really important event (may be immediate family members wedding) then you should go. These are more important things in life. Believe it or not when you look back that this in future you will regret the decision of not going if its truely an emergency.
Most likely nothing will happen. Just take the offer letter with you from the new company descibing that your new job duties are similar to old one and also take copy of AC21 law.

We are interested in knowing the source of this rule!
If you pay the new fee for EAD or AP, there is no mention that you won't have to pay again for EAD or AP. You don't have to pay for EAD and/or AP if you had paid new fee for I-485.
I'm renewing my wife's and my EAD through my attorney. We'll pay only this time for the new fee and then on will be free. Same is with AP. Pay once under the new fee, and then you can renew it for free. The only fee you'll pay is your attorney's, which you don't have to do. You can efile by yourself like many other people have done.

Thanks for your list. So it seems we can do it without attorney help. I am not sure what my attorney is doing its been a month since he had all the papers and fee. I am going to try filing myself:mad:

Yeah I think it makes sense to fill I9 form because that way you make it clear that your intent moving forward is to be on AOS rather than H1. In case you dont do it then you are on dual status with H1 being primary status so in that case it is open to wide interpretation of CIS officers to classify it as out of status or in status.
