Hi everyone!
I had a question about receiving updates in the mail and checking the case status online. This is for my Marriage-based GC interview at the San Francisco office. My service center is Missouri MSC.
I had my interview for marriage based GC on May 27th. The interview was short and went very well. The IO said that everything was in order, though I needed to have my dr resend USCIS my medical reports again as the dr had missed some fields on the medical form. The IO said many dr's were missing some fields on the recently updated forms. The IO then gave me a form which said that I needed the medical examination resent and which also had the "Further review" box checked. The IO said I should get something in the mail within 10 days of USCIS getting the new medical report.
I immediately went and had my dr resend the medical report with everything filled out. The USCIS acknowledged the receipt of the new fully filled medical form on June 2nd.
It is June 18th today and I have not received anything in the mail yet. The online USCIS case tracker hasn't been updated in months and still shows my case as having been on the "Accepted on March 17th" stage, even though I've already done the finger printing and the interview. Calling the 1-800 number for status updates says the same thing, that I applied on March 17th and that a letter was mailed to me regarding finger printing.
Do you know why I haven't gotten anything in the mail yet, or why the online status tracker hasn't updated at all? I wonder if this is a bad thing, a normal thing, or if the San Francisco field office [or the Missouri Process Center MSC] is taking longer than usual to send out mails after the interviews?
Thanks!

Guys,
My wife is a Canadian citizen, what is the process of getting a H4 for her? (I am on an H1-140 approved).
1)Do I file an app with USCIS?
2)Can she go apply at the US consulate in Canada?
What type of documents, forms are involved ?
The reason for this post is I was given conflicting info by my old lawyer.
Thanks
Your wife should take an appointment at the closest US Consulate. She and you should then look up the list of documents needed on the website of that US Consulate.
thats how I did it for my wife but she was from India.
hope this helps.
Cheers

Hi SandeR2!
Your first two entries are a bit too small, but I can still add them up as an entry. For your other entries, some of them are (as you mention in the descriptions) photos that you took and vectorized. Unfortunately, those will not qualify, for the goal is for you to draw manually without converting an existing photo.
To answer your question, your first two entries and the this one (http://kwijl.deviantart.com/art/MyBobblehead-64787112) seem to qualify!
Thanks,
Kirupa :)

I went to graduate school in the US, (majored in Architecture) and was on an F1 visa from the period 2006-2009.I graduated in Aug 2008 and applied for an H1 through a consultancy firm. The petition for an H1 visa was approved, but I decided to return back home anyway and came home in 2009.
2 weeks ago, I visited the States for a week for a conference on a B1/B2 visa. I eventually want to return to the States and work there and therefore, need advice in this regard...
Given that my petition for an H1 has been approved, will the company that offers me employment have to reapply for an H1 for me?Or can the H1 be transferred from the Consultant company(that got me the H1), to the new company easily?!
Any help in this matter will be highly appreciated!
Thanks!

Folks,
I want to start entirely unrelated but important topic here.
Is it worth saving in Traditional IRA when we are uncertain about our stay in this country.
I also want to know if we have to pay penalty if we decide to leave the country and take our retirement investment with us.
Experts in investing, please help

By chance, I was browsing the USCIS homepage when I came across guidelines for the change of address form. It says that not changing your address within 10 days is a criminal misdemeanor. Does anyone know when this law was passed?

Your parents can visit you for short trips as often as they like (within reason). But if they stay for an extended period (ie. the full 6 months stamped on the I94), then there is an implicit time gap requirement. In other words if your parents stay with you for 6 months then go back to their country and return to the US after 1 month, most likely they will not get a 6 month stamp the second time. In this scenario they might have plan their trip back to the US after 9 month or so. On the other hand if your parent stay with you for 1 month in the US, then leave for an other country and come back in 15 days, they should not have a problem with re-entry.
G'luck!

The storage silo (that modern building in the center of the photo) seems a little out of place. Also, on my display the contrast doesn't seem great - the colours seem a little flat.

...that location of the attorney does not matter, unless you need him/her to accompany you to the local USCIS office for complicated cases, or for interviews.
I live in Chicagoland but my attorney is Ron Gotcher in CA (Calabassas/LA area), and I would recommend him very highly. The main thing I liked about him was that he is very reasonable and you can phone/email him as many times as you need to without getting charged left, right, and center.
I would recommend that you pick an attorney that is competent and charges a reasonable price, and one that you're comfortable with as opposed to where they're located.

As a July 2007 filer, you do have to pay the $305 filing fee. The $80 biometrics fee applies only to applicants for Reentry Permits and Refugee Travel Documents. It is not required for Advance Parole.
Individuals who file for AOS after July 2007 have to pay a $1010 filing fee for the I-485, but are not required to pay filing fees for subsequent AP's and EAD's. The following is an excerpt from the USCIS website:
"Please note that, if you file Form I-485 to adjust your status as a permanent resident on or after July 30, 2007, no additional fee is required to also file an application for employment authorization on Form I-765 and/or advance parole on Form I-131. You may file these forms concurrently. If you choose to file the I-765 and/or I-131 separately after July 30, 2007, you must also submit a copy of your I-797C, Notice of Action, receipt as evidence of the filing of an I-485. If you filed your Form I-485 prior to July 30, 2007, you must pay the fees associated with Forms I-765 and/or I-131 when you file."

We are happy and proud to anounce that we are a 3000+ members family now. Kudos to the all the members for the hard work and perseverance. We are happy with what we have achieved so far and are confident & determined to do our best in the future. I want to quote Sunil on this
'I can sooo clearly remember when we just got started off, and we had only couple threads on our forums. We had only 6-8 members.
We were posting stuff on the forums just to get some content out there so people can see some activity. Hard to believe we have close to 600 threads now.
This is something everyone should be proud of'

Bush said he wants to improve the working visas, I think the prority needs to offer to Canadians because Canadinas use the same language and education system, the distance is closer. We need to call all the senetors, the working visas.etc. need to go to Canadina citizens first.

Hi guys,
My I140 was approved last week (RD July 2007). I have the approval notice copy from the lawyer but the online status is still saying its pending.
I called uscis and she told me that she is seeing that its pending too but if i have the approval notice then not to worry. It takes them some time sometimes to update the system, as per her.
But my concern is, when my PD becomes current and if their own system shows my I140 penidng(eventhough it's approved), how will they approve 485?
Any one in same boat or any past experience?
Thanks and good luck to all who are waiting.
